Tiers of Events

Ascend Taekwondo Competition Tier List

• Tier 1: Rumbles
  Friendly sparring events hosted by local schools. Ideal for beginners to gain confidence and match experience.

• Tier 2: Local Tournaments
  City-wide competitions, typically unsanctioned. A great way to build competitive experience and test skills.

• Tier 3: State Championships
  Sanctioned by USA Taekwondo. Athletes who medal qualify for Nationals. A key step in the competitive pathway.

• Tier 4: Majors
  Includes Regionals, Nationals, and the Season Final. Athletes must medal at Nationals and the Final to qualify for National Team Trials.

• Tier 5: National Team Trials
  Invite-only event for top athletes. Success here leads to Team USA selection and international competition.
